Top dog friendly beaches

Entering into the colder months, now is the perfect time to bring your doggies on holiday to Cornwall. So we thought (because obviously we’re constantly thinking of how to make your holiday that little bit easier planning wise) that we would put together a guide to some of our local, favourite dog friendly beaches for you lovely lot.
Porthmeor beach

Local beaches to st ives

Bamaluz – sand and rock, St Ives, all year round, TR26 1PR Situated between the Harbour and Porth Gwidden beach and just below the St Ives museum, which features decades worth of St Ives history and is definitely worth a visit!
Porthmeor beach – blue flag beaches, restrictions during higher season. A popular beach to watch the sunset, it is definitely worth taking your dog for a walk on this beach in the evening time for the picturesque views and photo opportunities. The Island and Mans Head are also visible from this beach and definitely worth a visit.
Porthminster View – blue flag beaches, restrictions during higher season. A known holiday favourite (alongside Porthmeor) during the high season but once St Ives gets a little quieter they’re also a favourite for most dogs too! With beautiful views of St Ives harbour and located next to the train station, this is the perfect morning walk beach. You can also walk over to the Harbour beach when the tide is out, extending the beach into one big play ground – what more could a dog want?
Lambeth Walk beach – sand and rock, St Ives, all year round This beach doesn’t really exist during high tide but is central to St Ives and loved by all dogs. Joins up to the Harbour beach at low tide, leaving plenty of room for your pooch to do countless sprints, dives and rolls.

Beaches a little further out…

Porth kidney – sandy, Lelant, all year around, TR26 3DY Stretches from the River Hayle in Lelant to Hawkes Point in Carbis Bay. This branch is around 1 mile long and the perfect stretch of sand and sea for your dog to have marathon runs. The North end of Porth Kidney beach is very popular with surfers and on the lowest of tides it is possible to walk over to Carbis Bay beach.
Longrock beach – sand and pebbles, dogs allowed all year A family favourite, especially with locals due to the large car park. The entire beach from the West of the car park to Penzance has no restrictions, so let your dog do as many mad dashes around as possible. It is also a 5 minute walk to Longrock village, which has 2 pubs and 1 shop. Longrock village is actually where one of our favourite places to go for a roast dinner is, the Mexico Inn – give it a try!
Looking for dog friendly properties? Take a look at our Minster Dreams apartment, located next to Porthminster beach.

Welcome!

We thought the best way to start off our ‘blogging’ journey is to tell our lovely guests and visitors a little bit about us and what we aim to do with these blog posts, so here we go…

We are a small family run business based in St Ives with our main aim being to get our guests to fall in love with St Ives, Cornwall just as much as we are and maybe even more!

Starting this journey with just one St Ives holiday let in 2019, over the past year we have grown and now have the pleasure of managing and letting 6 beautiful, unique holiday homes located all over St Ives and even a beautiful cottage in Trezelah, Gulval.

Our aim with this blog is to keep you up to date with all of the best places to eat, the best cocktail places and places to visit alongside activites/things to do to keep your kids entertained whilst on holiday as well as any events or festivals happening that we think you MUST know about. Trust us, if you’re googling it, we’ll be writing a blog post about it.

We want YOU, as our guests, to have a personal holiday experience and make it your best holiday yet!
